When she’s not holding a microphone, Andrea’s holding a pen. Or rather: its modern-day equivalent. That’s right: a typewriter.

That’s what she says about herself in her website. Andrea Mann is a London-based jazz vocalist. She also plays piano and performs as a solo artist. Her style can just be defined with one word: brilliant. Relaxed, chaming, cool interpretations of jazz and pop themes. You’d better listen by yourself.

And when she’s not singing, she’s writing. She writes comedy. She writes for BBC, Sky and Channel 4, and also runs the comedy section of Huffington Post UK. As a bonus, she lets you click on her own bottom (yes, you’re right: her own bottom) for getting the homepage of her blog Lost in Transposition. You should read her. Really. A smile will appear in your face automatically.

That’s what she says about her in her twitter account. She sings. And she does it really, really well.

I had heard about her some months ago, and felt I needed to listen by myself if the good critics I read were true. And they were.

Born in Los Angeles in 1976, Gretchen moved to New York. In 2001, she was the first vocalist to be accepted in the Thelonius Monk Institute of jazz. She won the 2004 Thelonious Monk Institute International Vocal Competition. Her talent allowed her to perform with artists like Terence Blanchard, Kenny Barron, Terri Lynn Carrington and Esperanza Spalding.

European and japanese scenarios have been enchanted by her unique style, with incredible freshness of its ethnic reminiscenses.

When I read the first reviews about Joanne’s voice, just started searching the web to find more.

I found her twitter account, @Joanne_Tatham, and her website joannetatham.com… And then, could listen to her voice… it was exactly as I imagined: a wonderful and warm voice, reminiscent of the late 50′s classical ballades. Born in New York, but living in Los Angeles, she performs usually in the most selected LA clubs.

Following that union, Stacey turned around her career, and after leaving her language studies, and training at the Guildhall School of Music, she began to walk her first musical steps.

Steps that lead her to be one of the most characteristic and recognizable voices of contemporary vocal jazz scene. Her performances are filled of romance, evoking tenderness and timelessness. The constant presence and support of her husband raise her music to new heights of imaginable listening pleasure.

Themes such as “La Venus de Mélo“, “Breakfast on the morning tram” or”The Ice Hotel“, are a sensational revelation of an artist like no other, and therefore deserves to be, undoubtedly, among the jazz greatest stars.

It’s Diana Krall live performance of  ”S’Wonderful” song, from her record “The Look of Love“. Although what I heard the studio recording, I will always try to publish live videos, just like this, because I think they represent the true essence of songs. When I first listened to her voice, I remember that stopped what I was doing. Something hit me, I can’t explain.

Although some people don’t like the way she sings,  I love the way she plays piano, the way she sings, and the way she is in her public life. A true Lady. Diana Krall performances are smooth, closer, and brilliant.
